ALI Certified Lift Checker: Is Your Car Lift Model in the Directory?

By Garage Equipment ReviewPublished 4 min readHow we research

Affiliate disclosure: product links on this page go to Amazon, or to the maker's own store for brands that sell only direct. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you; a link to a maker's store earns us nothing. No retailer or brand sees our picks before they are published or has any say in them. How we choose.

ALI's rule for car lifts is short: every currently certified model is in its Directory of Certified Lifts, and if a model is not listed, it is not certified. This checker is a copy of that directory taken on October 12, 2026: 1,649 lift models across two-post, four-post, scissor, low and mid-rise, single-post, in-ground and drive-on parallelogram lifts, searchable by the model on the lift's data plate or by brand. Seven of the 34 lifts in our guides are listed: the BendPak 10AP and HD-9, the Atlas PVL10 Platinum and QuickJack's 6000TL, 6000TLX, 8000TL and 8000TLX. None of the import brands sold mainly on Amazon has a single model in it.

Copied from the ALI Directory of Certified Lifts on Oct 12, 2026: every model in its two-post, four-post and multi-post runway, scissor, low and mid-rise, single-post, in-ground and drive-on parallelogram categories, with repeat certifications of the same model merged under the latest date. Left out: 1,550 mobile column and wheel engaging mobile unit models. ALI updates the directory daily, so check autolift.org before you buy and look for the gold label on the lift.

What the check found

QuickJack's product pages mention only "ALI-certified manuals", yet the directory lists all eight of its TL and TLX lifts from the 5000 to the 8000 with a certification date of March 9, 2026, and the 6000ELX since February 25, 2022. Our guides had said the pages did not claim certification, which was true of the pages and the wrong answer to whether the lift is certified; they now say what the directory says.

The 1,649 models carry 73 brand names from 24 certified makers. Challenger (355 models), Rotary (323), TLS-CTS (212) and PKS (185) account for more than half. BendPak has 96, of which 78 carry the BendPak/Ranger name and the rest are QuickJack, Dannmar and MaxJax lifts.

Who makes the store and tool-truck brands

ALI lists each model under the brand on the lift and names the certified maker beside it, which answers a question dealers rarely do. The Matco, Mac Tool, ADG, Chief, Forward Lift, Revolution, Serve Pro, Direct Lift, Weaver, Golf Lift and Apex listings are made by Rotary Lift. The Snap On listings are made by PKS, plus one Snap-On scissor lift made by MAHA. Gray lifts come from Challenger and Whip Industries, and the John Bean, Hofmann, Quality Lifts, Frontline and Wurth Canada listings from Challenger. Jack Boss, Yellow Jacket, Road Dawg, Big Red, Black Jack, Proformance, TCE and APlusLift's Falcon two-posts are made by Torin.

How to use it

Search the exact model designation on the lift's data plate or the order, not the marketing name. Suffixes are separate listings: BendPak's 10AP, 10AP-168, 10APX, 10APX-181 and 10AP-SRT are five entries, and ALI says an incomplete designation is not certified. A match tells you the model is certified; the gold ALI label on the lift tells you the unit is. ALI also says certification covers the lift's listed options and accessories, and that a non-certified accessory voids it while it is fitted.

The certification date shown is the latest one ALI lists for that model. Many listings carry July 24, 2018, the date ALI's news release gives for the 2017 edition of ANSI/ALI ALCTV taking effect. The ALI certification guide explains the standard, the gold label and the marks that do not count.

What a missing model means

A lift that is not in the directory has not been third-party tested and certified to ANSI/ALI ALCTV. That is all its absence tells you; it does not make the lift unsafe, and a listing does not make one safe. It matters when a building department, a landlord or an insurer asks for a certified lift, because a model outside the directory cannot meet that requirement. We call no lift safe.

How we built it

On October 12, 2026 we read every category of ALI's search page and kept each model's brand, model designation, rated capacity, certification date and certified maker. Repeat certifications of the same model are merged under the latest date. Left out: 1,550 mobile column and wheel engaging mobile unit models, which are heavy-vehicle lifting systems. ALI says it updates the directory daily, so check autolift.org before you buy.

Frequently asked questions

Is QuickJack ALI certified?

Yes, by ALI's directory: it lists the QuickJack 5000TL, 6000TL, 7000TL and 8000TL and their TLX versions with a certification date of March 9, 2026, and the 6000ELX since February 25, 2022 (searched October 12, 2026). QuickJack's own pages mention only ALI-certified manuals.

Are BendPak lifts ALI certified?

Many are. The directory lists 78 BendPak/Ranger models, including the 10AP two-post and the HD-9 four-post, plus QuickJack, Dannmar and MaxJax M6K lifts. It does not list every BendPak, the MD-6XP and the MaxJax M7K among them.

Are KATOOL or VEVOR lifts ALI certified?

No KATOOL, VEVOR, Albott, WEIZE, ME or XK model was in ALI's directory on October 12, 2026. Their listings cite CE or nothing, and CE is a European marking, not ALI certification.

What if my lift is not in the checker?

Check the full model designation, then search ALI's own directory at autolift.org, which is updated daily and also holds the mobile column sets this copy leaves out. If it is not listed there, ALI says the model is not certified.

Who makes Matco and Snap-on lifts?

ALI's directory names the certified maker beside each brand: the Matco and Mac Tool listings are made by Rotary Lift, the Snap On listings by PKS, with one Snap-On scissor lift by MAHA.

What does the date on each listing mean?

It is the certification date ALI shows for the model. Where ALI lists the same model more than once, the checker shows the latest date. Many carry July 24, 2018, when the 2017 edition of the standard took effect.
