Best Parts Washers (2026): Benchtop to 40 Gallon, by Tank, Pump and the Label
Affiliate disclosure: product links on this page go to Amazon, or to the maker's own store for brands that sell only direct. No retailer or brand sees our picks before they are published or has any say in them. How we choose.
A parts washer is a tub, a pump that recirculates cleaning fluid through a nozzle or brush, and a lid. The one fact that governs the purchase is on the label: Torin's Big Red T10035 says it is not for use with flammable or combustible solvents such as mineral spirits, and its lid closes on a fusible link in case of fire; Red Sun's 40-gallon has the same fusible lid and says it does not recommend a class of fluids the listing truncates; Eastwood's manual for an earlier 40-gallon washer specified aqueous cleaning solution only. The fluid is the maker's instruction and not ours. The Big Red T10035 ($98) is the pick for a benchtop with a named maker, a stated 325 gallon-per-hour pump, an 18 by 13.5-inch basin and a 1-year warranty; the JEGS 5-gallon ($79) is the smallest; the JEGS 20-gallon ($186, 12-gallon solvent capacity) and 20-gallon cart ($240, 110/120 V) are the mid-size; the Eastwood 40-gallon ($495, 10-inch tub, 5.3 GPM pump and 24-gallon minimum fill by its JEGS sheet, 1-year warranty) and the JEGS 40-gallon ($257) are the floor units; and the Red Sun 40-gallon ($301) adds a flow-through brush on a 28-inch tube and a filtered pump. Every pick gives tank, pump, lid and the fluid instruction from its listing and says who should skip it.

How we chose
Parts washers sold in the US, judged on tank and working capacity, pump flow and voltage, lid type, included brush or nozzle, tray or basket, the fluid the maker allows, warranty and price (October 9, 2026), from Amazon listings and, for Eastwood, a JEGS specification listing and an earlier Eastwood manual.

The fluid
Torin says no flammable or combustible solvents, mineral spirits named. Eastwood's earlier manual said aqueous only. Red Sun's fusible lid exists for the same reason Torin's does. A washer with an electric pump in the fluid and a fusible lid is a washer designed for water-based cleaners; whether a given unit's label allows a solvent is the label's business, and the label also governs disposal of what comes out of the tub, which is a local hazardous-waste question. We give no dilutions and name no cleaner.
Pump and tank
Flow (Torin's 325 gallons an hour, Eastwood's 5.3 gallons a minute, which is about 318 an hour) is what moves grease; the nozzle or brush is where it goes. Tank size is about the part: a 3.5-gallon benchtop fits a carburettor, a 20-gallon tub a brake caliper and a control arm, a 40-gallon tub a wheel or a cylinder head. Minimum fill matters: Eastwood's 40-gallon needs 24 gallons of fluid before the pump is covered, which is the cost nobody prices in.
What to skip
Skip putting a solvent the label forbids in a washer with an electric pump. Skip any washer whose fluid rule you have not read on the unit. Skip a 40-gallon unit if 24 gallons of cleaner is not in the budget. And skip pouring the tub down a drain; the cleaner's label and the local rules say where it goes.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use mineral spirits in a parts washer?
Torin's Big Red T10035 says no: not for use with flammable or combustible solvents such as mineral spirits, biodegradable cleaners only. Eastwood's earlier 40-gallon manual said aqueous solution only. Read the label on your unit; the pump sits in the fluid.
What is a fusible-link lid?
A lid held open by a link that melts in a fire and closes the tub; Torin's and Red Sun's washers have one. It is a feature for a cleaner that can burn, which the makers' labels then tell you not to use.
How big a parts washer do I need?
A 3.5 to 5-gallon benchtop for carburettors and bearings, a 20-gallon tub with 12 gallons of fluid for calipers and arms, a 40-gallon tub for wheels and heads. Eastwood's 40-gallon needs 24 gallons of fluid to run.
How strong a pump does a parts washer need?
Torin states 325 gallons an hour on its benchtop and Eastwood's sheet 5.3 GPM on its 40-gallon; the JEGS tubs do not state flow. Flow moves grease; the brush or nozzle directs it.
Which parts washer has a brush?
Red Sun's 40-gallon: a flow-through brush on a 28-inch flexible tube with a rotating nozzle and a filtered recirculating pump. Eastwood's uses a gooseneck nozzle; Torin's a nozzle over the basin.
What do I do with used parts washer fluid?
What the cleaner's label and your local hazardous-waste rules say. It is not a drain question; it is a collection question, and the washer makers' manuals point you to the same place.
